The Algarve's regional children's swimming team won three silver medals in the XXVI Vale do Tejo Cup, which took place in the municipal swimming pools of Abrantes, over the weekend.

The Algarve Swimming Association (Analgarve) participated in this tournament with 20 athletes, from children and youth, who were accompanied by regional technical director Filipa Lopes and coaches Francisco Simões (Louletano DC) and Pedro Maximino (CN Beja).

The final result of the selection in absolutes was the 7th place, with 212 points, and, in children, the Algarve swimmers reached the 6th place, with 109 points, and in youth, the 7th place, with 103 points.

In the medalist, the regional children's team won three silver medals, through swimmers José Rodeira (CN Faro), in the 100m freestyle event, with a time of 57.54, Laura Estevens (CN Olhão), in the 100m breaststroke event, with a time of 1:21.57, and Fabiana Gomes (Louletano DC), in the 200m styles event, with the time of 2:32.54.

In terms of FINA points performance, in the men's regional team, Duarte Sequeira (CN Lagos) competed in the 50m freestyle event, with a time of 25:42 and 506 points, and, in the women's team, Maria Jesus (Louletano DC) swam in the 100m freestyle event, with a time of 1:01.51 and 566 points.
