On Sunday 21 January, the Tavira Maritime Police seized 10 illegal hand hooks and around 15 kilos of shellfish on the beaches of Tavira, Cacela (Vila Real de Santo António) and Barra da Fuzeta (Olhão).
The bivalve was returned to its natural habitat as it is still alive.
The infraction corresponds to a fine that can vary between 748 euros and around 49 thousand euros.
Five agents and two 4×4 motorcycles from the Local Command of the Tavira Maritime Police were involved in this policing operation.
