The works for the renovation of the Cine-Teatro António Pinheiro, in Tavira, will start "in March or April". The preliminary award report was taken to the Chamber meeting this Tuesday and, after the assessment of the final report, the drafting of the contract minutes and the approval of the Court of Auditors, the work will advance in the field.
Jorge Botelho advanced to the Sul Informação that new Cine-Teatro António Pinheiro «will start from the existing element. A new project was made to have a place that would solve the problem of not having a covered performance space in the city center».
The mayor of Tavira revealed that “a modular concert hall will be created, with 360 seats, which will allow to receive almost 100% of the shows that take place in Portugal. If the first row of chairs is removed, it will already allow you to receive 100%».
Em open space, “the room can hold almost 600 people. It will be a space with a balcony, a stage box and the entrance will be made through a central door, where there is now a tree, creating a square and redefining that space», added the mayor.
For Jorge Botelho, the construction of the new cinema-theater, which will cost 5 million euros, and is financed by CRESC 2020, "is an urgency" for the city, since "Tavira is the only municipality that does not have a venue of covered shows».
