Grupo Quadrante is part of the consortium responsible for developing the electrification projects of the Algarve Line, in the section between Tunes and Lagos.

“The electrification of the Tunes – Lagos sections will allow commercial exploitation exclusively with electrical material and other improvements that will contribute to the efficiency of the system”, says the Quadrante group.

And what improvements? “Reduction in journey time”, as well as in the “necessity of rental costs for equipment to the Spanish railway company RENFE”, he explains.

Among the projects that Quadrante is in charge of, the geological and geotechnical study, the suppression of level crossings, bridges and viaducts projects, as well as all the environmental studies, stand out.

Tiago Costa, administrator and responsible for the transport area of the Quadrante group, stressed that “for the group it is very important to integrate a project of this importance and directly contribute to the modernization of the national railway network, which is important from an environmental and economic point of view. ».

«To respond effectively to the flow and mobility needs that this region has been experiencing, both in the tourist and business spheres, it is crucial to improve the conditions of railway operation and reduce accidents at road crossings, through unevenness', he concluded.

Pedro Marques, Minister of Planning and Infrastructure, he said last Friday that the Government will launch these works, which also include the electrification of the Algarve Line, between Vila Real de Santo António and Faro, still this year.

The goal is to be completed by 2020.
