The Scouts of Olhão will have a new headquarters. The lending contract that will endow the institution with this new headquarters was signed this Wednesday, January 17, on the day that Group 6 celebrated its 93rd anniversary.
The new headquarters of the Scouts of Olhão, located at Rua Gil Eanes, arises from the difficulties expressed to the municipality by those responsible for the old house which, in addition to a clear degradation, no longer had the capacity to house the activities and the number of elements of the Group 6.
«The local authority could not remain insensitive to the call of the scouts, since this is an institution that, in the municipality of Olhão, carries out exemplary work in the healthy occupation and training of our children and young people», stresses António Pina, President of the Chamber of Olhão.
The next step was to find a suitable place, which happened on Rua Gil Eanes. The building was acquired by the municipality and leased for life to Group 6 of Scouts, for exclusive use.
"We would like to thank the mayor, as well as the rest of the executive, for the way they committed themselves to this goal, which was to find a new headquarters", said Rui de Brito, head of Group 6, at the lending contract signing ceremony.
