The teams of forest clearers from Lagos and Aljezur have three new elements since Tuesday. The association Terras do Infante, which brings together the municipalities of Lagos, Vila do Bispo and Aljezur, thus strengthened the teams responsible for monitoring and preventing forest fires in the area of ​​the three municipalities.

«Actions for cleaning and clearing land, opening and maintaining fire breaks, surveillance and first intervention are the tasks that this renewed contingent of personnel will carry out, thus completing the existing and functioning teams», according to the City Council of Lagos.

The three new forest sappers signed a contract to work in public functions for an indefinite period and joined the staff of Terras do Infante. The association has 15 members in its staff, which constitute the three teams of 5 members each, «distributed and exercising functions in the territories of the three municipalities».

These teams were created under the Inter-municipal Forest Intervention Plan (PMIF), «a planning and management document prepared in the context of an inter-municipal cooperation project that has been considered a pioneer and within which important prevention works have been carried out. systematically since the years 2005/06'.
