Portimonense was defeated 2-0 by Sporting, at Estádio de Alvalade, in a game counting for the 15th round of the I League. The Algarvians entered without fear, but conceded an early goal and found themselves reduced to ten, when they were still one goal behind.

In the first minutes of the game, there was emotion around both goals, but it was Sporting who managed to score. At 9 minutes, Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring and put the home team ahead.

Until the end of the first half, Sporting maintained control of the game, but Portimonense tried to surprise whenever they could. Nakajima was the great hope of the Algarve and even scare, but the shot went just wide of the goal.

In the second half, Portimonense was looking for an opportunity to try to surprise the opponent, but was reduced to ten units in the 55th minute. Hackman saw the second yellow card and went early to the locker room, complicating the task for his teammates.

Sporting did not take long to take advantage of the numerical superiority and made it 2-0 in the 65th minute, through Bas Dost.

Playing with ten and losing by two, the Portimão team could not find themselves in the game until the end of the game, despite having tried.

With this defeat, Portimonense maintains 16 points and is in 11th place in the I League, with condition. This season, the Algarvians still haven't managed any victory away from home for the championship.
