Two men, aged 34 and 42, were arrested by the GNR for crimes related to fruit and drug trafficking in the municipality of Vila Real de Santo António. 

«As part of an investigation, for several thefts from homes and establishments, which had been going on for three months, under the responsibility of the Department of Investigation and Criminal Action of Faro, a police operation was carried out in the locality of Monte Gordo, complying with a house search warrant and an arrest warrant,” says the GNR, in a statement.

The action also resulted in the arrest, for drug trafficking, of a family member of the suspect, who was in the residence. In total, 71 doses of heroin, a wooden stick and some rattles were seized, as well as 155 euros.

The detainees already have a criminal record for theft, robbery, drug trafficking and attempted murder. After being present at the Judicial Court of Vila Real de Santo António, one of the suspects was placed in preventive detention, while the other was subject to a term of identity and residence.
