Training to respond to the needs of companies that organize weddings will take place on December 19, from 10:00 am to 17:00 pm, at the São José Seminary, in Faro.

This training is aimed at all wedding planners «and aims to make known all the procedures that are necessary for the preparation of a Catholic wedding, the documentation that is mandatory, as well as the communication channels to use to obtain the necessary authorizations. and documents», explains the Diocese of Algarve, which organizes this initiative.

“The training will allow important information to be passed on, namely with regard to the entire procedure that is necessary in organizing a wedding, but also in relation to more specific issues related to the liturgy and the way in which Catholic ceremonies of marriage must take place,” he adds.

The Pastoral do Turismo diocesan team «has been establishing a relationship with all the wedding organization companies operating in the region and, therefore, has understood some of the problems most frequently faced by these professionals, and therefore intends to help in their formation, so that the ceremonies are more and more beautiful and more correct, in terms of what the Catholic Church defines».

"Over the last few years, the importance of marriages made in the Algarve by foreigners, especially from Ireland and Catholic communities in the United Kingdom, has increased and we are aware that this is an unavoidable reality", explains Father Miguel Neto, responsible for this Diocese work team.

«If the number of marriages of this type has increased, consequently, the existing relationship with wedding planners it has also been deepened, so it was important to carry out training that explains in detail the steps to be taken in preparing these weddings, in order to ensure greater quality, discipline and communication with regard to this type of ceremonies", he adds. .

The idea is to avoid "gross mistakes, which can jeopardize the validity of the marriage of foreign couples, while facilitating procedures with the Chancellor of the Diocese, ensuring that the processes reach him with quality," he explains.

“Equally, we will seek to reinforce the need for parishes to pay attention to these weddings and to guarantee a correct reception for both the couple and the wedding planners, guiding them so that all legal and canonical procedures are complied with”.

All participants will receive a certificate and their name will be referenced on the Pastoral do Turismo website as Wedding Planner authorized and accredited by the Diocese of Algarve.
