The Kayak Clube Castores do Arade (from Lagoa) rose one position, compared to last year, in the national ranking of clubs published by the Portuguese Canoeing Federation, ending 2017 in 9th place in the country.

The “Beavers”, who are dedicated only to the practice of canoeing, thus achieve the best national classification of all clubs in the Algarve, with 289 points.

This is followed by Grupo Desportivo de Alcoutim, Amigos da Mexilhoeira da Carregação (also from Lagoa) and Clube Naval de Portimão, which finished in 23rd, 44th and 58th positions, respectively.

The Associação Naval do Guadiana and the Grupo Naval de Olhão both finished in the 66th position, with the same number of points, according to a note from the Castores do Arade.

The national podium in this ranking repeats what happened last year: 1st place is assured by Náutico de Ponte de Lima, the club of Olympic athlete Fernando Pimenta, with 630 points and his 11th consecutive title. Ponte de Lima Náutico wins the “Games Santa Casa Trophy”, awarded to the best national club.

Clube Náutico de Prado, in 2nd, with 536 points, and Náutico de Crestuma, in 3rd, with 425 points, complete the national podium in the ranking by clubs.
