Portimonense lost 1-0 to Chaves, in a game counting for the 14th round of the I League of Football, played this Sunday, 10 December. The Algarvians had the best chances to score, but a penalty in added time gave the victory to Luís Castro's team.

The entire first part was a mirror of the balance that exists between the two teams: neither Portimonense nor Chaves managed to outperform, despite the Algarve team having had the best chances.

After Vítor Oliveira, Nakajima and Dener received, respectively, the awards for best coach, striker and midfielder for October and November of the I League, the game started and the first opportunity was for Portimonense.

On minute 11, Lumor crossed already inside the area, but Fabrício arrived a little late to the ball, allowing Chaves' defense to cut. Dener, in the 25th minute, shot close to António Filipe's goal.

Luís Castro's team didn't manage to have any scoring opportunity throughout the first half, which ended with Portimonense being able to make it 1-0. Fabrício, with only the goalkeeper ahead of him, but pressured by the defenders of Chaves, shot a little close to the opponent's goal.

As for the second half, it started in practically the same way as the first: with Fabricio being able to score. At 51, Jefferson barely controlled the ball, which was left to the Brazilian striker. Fabricio stung the ball, but António Filipe made a great save.

At 65 minutes, another opportunity for Portimonense. After a corner, and a bad exit by António Filipe, the ball was bouncing near Chaves' goal, where the goalkeeper was no longer there, but Rúben Fernandes couldn't make it to the goal.

Ninja Nakajima also had the 1-0 on his feet, but António Filipe made a good save after a shot from the Japanese, when 73 minutes had elapsed.

And as the second half was full of goals for Portimonense, at 80 there was another one, this time by Ewerton, who, already inside the area, shot just above the bar.

On the other side, Ricardo Ferreira came out well in front of Pedro Tiba's cross (81 minutes) that could be dangerous if the ball passed.

When the tie already seemed to be the right result, Chaves had a penalty in their favor, in the 92nd minute. Lucas slipped in the area and, faced with the advance of Platiny, ended up stretching his leg and making a foul, promptly marked by Fábio Veríssimo.

In the conversion, Pedro Tiba did not miss, despite Ricardo Ferreira having hit the side the ball went to. In a game in which Portugal's wingers faced each other, Portimonense ended up not being happy.

With this defeat, Portimonense has 16 points and is in 10th place.
