The demonstration “Mediterranean Kitchens with Olive Oil”, under the guidance of Head Jorge Rodrigues, takes place on November 25, at 10:30 am, at the Agricultural Cooperative of Santa Catarina da Fonte do Bispo, in Tavira.

With this action, «it is possible to show the various culinary possibilities of olive oil, olives and other seasonal products, as well as to show how these ingredients are prepared in other areas of Mediterranean culture, how to cook with the family and what are the special dishes for children and adults», says the Chamber of Tavira.

This initiative follows on from a set of activities promoted by the Municipal Museum of Tavira, during the month of November, aimed at the school and general public. The actions are also part of the National Week of Scientific Culture and aim to promote the olive culture in the county.

In this regard, visits are also planned for students from the 1st cycle of Basic Education to the press of the Cooperativa de Olivicultures de Tavira, where they will be given the opportunity to follow the work of extracting the juice from the olive: olive oil.

«“Mediterranean Diet All Year” is a program of activities to safeguard the Mediterranean Diet that aims to promote the multiple dimensions of the Mediterranean lifestyle and cultural landscape. It is intended, from the perspective of sustainability (social, environmental and economic), to make known the productive landscapes, food, know-how and threats to its continuity, as well as exploring, experimenting and savoring», says the Chamber of Tavira.

Registration, free and mandatory, must be made until November 22nd. More information can be collected by calling 281 320 500 or sending a e-mail to [email protected].
