Christmas fairs, decorations and street entertainment are activities to take place in December in the towns and villages of the municipality of Odemira, with the aim of both marking the festive season and encouraging consumption in local businesses.
There will also be no shortage of “great Christmas trees” in Odemira, S. Teotónio and Vila Nova de Milfontes, as well as a cultural program alluding to the date.
Between December 1st and January 6th, the campaign “Christmas at the Local Commerce” will take place, with prizes drawn among consumers in participating stores, and the traditional shop window competition to encourage local businessmen to dress their shop windows with decorations allusive to the festive season.
On the 8th and 9th of December, between 9:00 am and 17:00 pm, the “Christmas in the Market” initiative will fill the Municipal Market of Odemira with the Christmas spirit, local products, handicrafts, workshops, gastronomy, music, children's entertainment, inflatables and the draw of the Market Basket, in an initiative of the Municipality of Odemira.
On the 8th, 9th and 10th of December, the “Natal na Vila” initiative will be promoted in the Historic Center of Vila Nova Milfontes, with crafts, gastronomy, art, music, the “Cortejo Natal Solidário” and lots of entertainment, promoted by the Social Commission Inter-parishes of Vila Nova de Milfontes and Longueira/Almograve, with the support of the Municipality and Parish Council of Vila Nova de Milfontes.
The village of Colos will host the “Christmas Fair”, in the Public Garden, on December 16th and 17th, with exhibition and sale of products, music, children's entertainment and the traditional Christmas bonfire, promoted by Colos XXI – Association for the Development of the Parish of Colos, with the support of the Municipality, Sociedade Recreativa Colense, Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Odemira and the Parish Council of Colos.
On December 16th, the “Natal em S. Teotónio” action will also be promoted, with the dynamization of local commerce and street entertainment, in an initiative of Nã Drome – Local Traditions Association, with the support of the Municipality and the Parish Council of S. Teotonio.
