The first session of the cycle of conversations “O Algarve, Portugal and the Future” will take place on November 29, at 21 pm, in the João de Deus Secondary School amphitheater, in Faro.

“Territory and identity: Challenges for the XNUMXst century” is the motto for the first session.

The guests will be Adriano Moreira, lawyer, university professor and historical director of the CDS, Guilherme d' Oliveira Martins, executive director of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, João Guerreiro, former rector of the University of Algarve, Paulo Teixeira Pinto, responsible for creating the Zero Museum , in Santa Catarina da Fonte do Bispo (Tavira), and Idálio Revez, journalist from Público.

The challenge is to «reflect on the Algarve and Portugal in a perspective of the future», as well as «rehearse new visions and dare positive perspectives and ideas», says the organization.

In fact, the need to reflect on the Algarve and create critical thinking that can be used to build an idea, or purpose, for the region is one of the central aspects of the program that will confront visions and ideas on crucial issues such as the economy , education, environment, cities and culture.

The second session, to be held on January 26, 2018, will have the economy as its central theme and António Rebelo de Sousa, André Jordan and Vítor Neto as guests.

The occasion will serve to present the book “O Algarve em Números”, an economic study carried out by António Rebelo de Sousa for Sul, Sol e Sal.

This cycle of conversations is promoted by publisher Sul, Sol e Sal and the Rotary Club of Faro.
