The PS de Castro Marim will ask the court to challenge the vote in Azinhal, after voting ballots with the box destined for this coalition were detected in possession of the PSD/CDS-PP candidate for the Parish Council.

Second revealed to Sul Informação Célia Brito, head of the PS list to the Chamber of Castro Marim, António Pereira, who ended up elected president of the Azinhal Parish Council in the Municipal Elections yesterday, October 1st, «was found in the voting section with bulletins already filled in in the pocket'. “The GNR was called to the scene and we insisted that everything was put in the minutes”, he revealed.

“We are going to file an appeal with the court. We are already dealing with the process to register today [October 2nd]. There is a big suspicion of fraud. Let's see what the court will decide," he said.

Francisco Amaral, the PSD/CDS-PP candidate who ended up re-elected mayor of Castro Marim, says that it was all a misunderstanding and that the bulletins in question were «papers that were distributed in the campaign, to show people where to vote'. “They were just papers simulating a ballot paper. Our candidate took it out of his pocket to point out the results and the PS people thought it was a real bulletin», he said.

Now everything depends on the court, although Célia Brito admits that it will be "difficult" to repeat the vote, as "it is not easy to prove". But for the PS candidate, it would be important for this to happen, since the difference in votes from the PSD/CDS-PP to the PS was 54 votes, in favor of Francisco Amaral, when at the council level, the current president won the election with only 32 votes of difference for the socialist candidate.
