The Mar Shopping Algarve has already opened, in Loulé. A walk through the brand new shopping center offers the possibility of shopping in the biggest Primark store in Portugal, drinking coffee at Starbucks (with walnuts and almonds on the table), or watching a movie in the comfortable NOS cinemas. Except that, in addition to this offer, the idea is that the space can also host events.
In the pre-opening, which took place this Wednesday at the beginning of the evening, 25th of October, Herman Gewert, general director of Mar Shopping, said that “we have to be very active to create a strong commercial offer, but also so that we can host events that take place in the Algarve».
Here, for example, cultural initiatives can enter. In his speech, the general director did not forget the delay in the works that caused the postponement of the opening of Mar Shopping. “Yes, we are late, but we are ready to open. Today is the beginning of a great path. We have the ambition to create something special, that goes even further», he said.
In the shopping centre, on the pre-opening day, there were still some touches to be done in the stores with a view to the official opening scheduled for today, at 10:00 am. And the stores themselves will continue to recruit, even though they are already open.
Also in the speeches, Paulo Alexandre Ferreira, Deputy Secretary of State and Commerce, said that “this undertaking will create conditions, not only at the commercial level, but also for events” that can attract both the Algarve and the Spaniards. Basically, Mar Shopping can create a «centrality that everyone can benefit from».
As for Pedro Pimpão, deputy mayor of Loulé, he invited everyone: «when you visit Mar Shopping, let them visit Loulé twice, because we are going to invest in local commerce and tourism in this city and in the municipality» .
