Ana Cabecinha is nominated by the editors of Atletismo magazine for the “Athlete of the Year” award. This appointment comes at the end of one of the best times for the marcher of the Clube Oriental de Pechão.

In the season that has just ended, Ana Cabecinha, achieved sixth place, in August, in the 20 kilometers march of the Athletics World Championships, in London.

But even before that, the marcher won the silver medal in the 20 km march in the European Cup in the sport, in the Czech Republic, won her 5th national title of 20 km march, in São João da Madeira, and was once again crowned regional champion in the Regional Championship of Corta-Mato, in Pinheiros de Marim.

Athlete at the Clube Oriental de Pechão since 1996, Ana Cabecinha already has six national records in her record.

These are “more than enough reasons for all of us to vote for “our” Ana Cabecinha for the title of Athlete of the Year”, according to António Pina, mayor of Olhão, who emphasizes that “this is a distinction more than just deserved and a recognition for the truly exemplary work” that the athlete “performs, day after day, always seeking to surpass herself”.

Voting is done online by the magazine's readers, being able to vote here, and the prizes are given on November 16th.
