A professional fishing vessel was fined last Saturday for operating in front of a licensed bathing area and less than 300 meters from the land line.

This was one of three boats that the local command of the Maritime Police in Faro supervised in a policing and inspection action directed to vessels dedicated to the capture of bivalves with towed hook.

According to the National Maritime Authority, the law determines that «the exercise of hook fishing towed by a vessel is only allowed at depths greater than 2,5 meters, at the moment, and cannot be carried out less than 300 meters from the coastline in concession areas during the bathing season'.
