The Municipality of Odemira will celebrate the International Day of the Elderly on the 2nd of October, with a convivial lunch for around 300 users of the eight local institutions that support the elderly, which will take place from 12:30 pm at the Salão dos Bombeiros Voluntários de Odemira.
The commemoration of Elderly Day will feature the participation of users of homes and day centers of the Association of Retired Persons, Pensioners and Elderly of the Parish of S. Teotónio, Social Solidarity Association Nossa Senhora do Mar (Zambujeira do Mar), Humanitarian Association D Ana Pacheco (Sabóia), Association of Retired and Elderly People of Vila Nova de Milfontes, House of the People of S. Martinho das Amoreiras, House of the People of Relics, House of the People of S. Luís and Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Odemira (Odemira and Colos).
The event will start with a welcome session and will be attended by representatives of local and regional entities.
In addition to lunch, the program includes the performance of Grupo Com Alma. "Music is the motto for an afternoon of socializing between all participants, encouraging socialization among users, technicians and managers of the various institutions and the recognition and appreciation of these entities of the social economy of the county for the social inclusion of the elderly population", says the Chamber of Odemira.
The initiative is promoted by the Municipality of Odemira, with the support of Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Odemira.
