Employment, tourism, health and safety. These are the axes «with the greatest impact on the life of the Algarve economy» and the themes that will be in focus at the “Encontro Fora da Caixa”, which will take place at Teatro das Figuras, in Faro, on the 26th of September. University professor Miguel Gouveia is the main speaker at this conference, which will be attended by other national experts in the areas to be addressed.

Caixa Geral de Depósitos bet on the Algarve capital to hold the seventh edition of this traveling event, which, according to the bank, will bring together «more than 500 guests, including customers and representatives of the region».

Miguel Gouveia will speak “about tourism and health and how the two realities are related in the construction of a tourist area of ​​excellence”. "His presentation will focus on the functioning of the national and Algarve health system and on the potential contributions of this system to tourism and the Algarve economy," revealed CGD.

Miguel Gouveia studied Economics, having completed his studies at the University of Rochester, New York. He is one of the greatest Portuguese specialists in Health Economics. He is currently also Professor of Economics at the University of Pennsylvania, in the United States.

The Econtro will also feature an intervention by José Félix Ribeiro, with a degree in Economics from ISCEF and a PhD in International Relations from Universidade Nova de Lisboa, who will speak “about the impact of globalization on the Algarve, a region that has new inhabitants and must know how to take advantage of it. and retaining this new talent, through innovative policies for job creation or new companies”.

There will also be a debate on the “Sustainability of the current tourism boom”, which will be attended by Rui Pereira, former Minister of Internal Affairs, economist Cristóvão Lopes, executive director of Falésia Hotel and vice-president of the Albufeira Promotion Agency and Nuno Ramos, general director of the Hospital de Loulé.

During the meeting, the program “Conselho de Directors” on Rádio Renascença will be recorded, with the presence of journalists Graça Franco, Henrique Monteiro and Pedro Santos Guerreiro. This program is moderated by journalist José Pedro Frazão.

In the end, Paulo Moita de Macedo, chairman of CGD's Executive Committee, “will analyze the Algarve's economic potential in the current context”.

«This meeting aims to discuss the fundamental axes of a tourist region of excellence that has to present quality services throughout the year. It also serves for members of Caixa's Executive Committee to visit branches in the region, getting to know better the realities of their customers and employees,” concluded CGD.
