The new roundabout in Pêra, on the EN125, has already started to be built at the beginning of this month of August, but the works do not affect traffic, for the time being. Thus, the road works, suspended due to the increased summer traffic, have already started again, even before the announced date, which was September.

This is one of the last two roundabouts to be built on the main road in the region, under the intervention of the concessionaire Rotas do Algarve Litoral (RAL). The works on the EN125 were, for the most part, completed in mid-July, such as the Sul Informação reported.

But, in addition to complementary works (arrangement of sidewalks and roundabouts and placement of lighting), whose works should start again in September, two new roundabouts were still to be built - the one at the Escola Internacional, near Lagoa, whose work was suspended for allow the archaeological intervention (which has also been taking place in August), and that of Pêra, in the municipality of Silves.

The works on the sides of this future roundabout have been progressing at a good pace, with earthworks, both on the side of the Cerâmica Vala facilities and next to the former Estalagem S. Jorge.

To what Sul Informação he found out from the source of the RAL, it was the most time-consuming process of expropriation of the land previously belonging to Cerâmicas Vala that delayed the start of the works.

In the case of the Estalagem de S. Jorge, which has been closed for decades, a source from Infrastructures of Portugal told our newspaper that the building itself will not be affected by the works, as it is located "in an area bordering the roundabout in question".

However, "some improvements" have already been demolished, such as a "structure in poor condition" and part of the "fence and wall", and a lot of "trees" have been removed, part of which had grown freely since the closing. of the old hotel unit on the edge of the EN125.

This new roundabout in Pêra will end with two dangerous intersections on the EN125, in the area of this locality in the municipality of Silves, where so many accidents have occurred over the years, many of them fatal.

All interventions on the 120 km section of the road, between Lagos and Olhão, should be fully completed by the end of the year, if the promises made are fulfilled.

In addition to the work on the new roundabout in Pêra, on the sides of the EN125, work continues on the roundabout at Benfarras (pavements), as well as on the two roundabouts at the entrance and exit of Patã and also on the roundabout at Vale Lousas. Here it is a question of finishing the secondary road accesses.
