A man of around 70 years of Dutch nationality, with suspicions of a broken leg caused by a fall, had to be rescued by sea, from Figueira beach, in Vila do Bispo, on the afternoon of Sunday, 20 August.

According to the Maritime Authority, the tourist was "walking on the rocks, when he fell and suffered a traumatic injury."

As Figueira beach is difficult to access by land, it was decided to carry out the rescue by sea, using the vessel from the Salva-Vidas de Sagres Station.

The victim was transported to the port of Baleeira and from there to the hospital in Portimão.
