The monument that will be inaugurated «marks the centenary and the memory of Portugal's effort in the Great War» and its inauguration, as well as the protocol to be celebrated, aim to «enhance collective memory in an area as sensitive today as the conquest of peace and participatory democracy”, according to the Association of Residents of Hangares.

The agreement with the Maritime Authority and the Navy foresees "the possibility of a better accessibility for civilians to the military bridge". "Our community also intends to signal the good relationship with these state interlocutors," adds the association.

The ceremony will be attended by the Secretary of State for National Defense Marcos Perestrello, as well as Admiral Silva Ribeiro, Chief of Staff of the Navy.
