The Jardim das Comunidade in Almancil, the Marginal de Quarteira, from the sidewalk (eastern area) to the market square (western area), and the Passeio das Dunas already have service stations. Wi-Fi free access.

This technological solution, implemented by the Municipality of Loulé, involved the installation of several access points, with external antennas and managed by a centralized system, for the configuration and control of equipment. Wi-Fi, as well as an internet access management solution, placed between the user and the internet wi-fi, which will cause that, whenever a citizen tries to access a public network, an authentication page will be presented.

The user can choose between two modes: log in using the credentials used in your social network (Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn ou Twitter) and, in this case, you will have a longer session, or access the Internet for 30 minutes without the need to register or authenticate.

This access portal is available in six languages: Portuguese, English, German, French, Spanish and Dutch.

«Since the beginning of August until now, more than 60 thousand internet connections have been made, which generated more than 2 TB (TeraBytes) of data traffic, and in the last week the average of daily connections was higher than 3 thousand connections», explains the City Council of Loulé.

This investment has an FEDER funding of 80%, within the scope of an application to CRESC Algarve 2020, called “Simplex 2.0″, which resulted from the already existing cooperation between the municipalities that make up the Urban Network “Algarve Central”.

Spaces such as the Paços do Concelho in Loulé, the Municipal Swimming Pools, the Municipal Sports Pavilion of Loulé, the Municipal Social Center, the Municipal Library, the Cine-Teatro Louletano or the Municipal Market of Loulé already have access wi-fi
