Concertos de Agir, for the young, Xutos, for the (older) are the novelties of the New Year's Eve poster in Albufeira, presented yesterday, more than four months away, in a session by the sea, in a hotel in the city .

Moreover, the most celebrated New Year's Eve in the Algarve (and one of the biggest in the country) will include, in its wide program, events that have been successful in previous years: Paderne Medieval, Festival Solrir, Star Parade in Oura and Fireworks for welcome the entry of the new year.

José Santos, president of APAL, the Albufeira Promotion Association, which many hotels and restaurants in the municipality are part of, stressed the need to present the program now, «so that those who want to visit us can prepare themselves».

On the part of APAL, José Santos guaranteed that everything will be done «so that the end of the year is as successful as possible». "Also in winter, at a time when Albufeira is more sleepy, it is necessary to give it more dynamism", added the businessman.

Carlos Silva e Sousa, mayor of Albufeira, the entity that pays most of the expenses for this animation poster, explained that, although «we are going to have local elections in the middle», it was necessary to «strongly mark the contracts so we don't lose the opportunity to have the best artists here».

The "strong poster" of New Year's Eve is, according to the mayor, "a gift for all who come to visit us, but also for us who live here."

As for the participation of APAL in the payment of expenses, through its associates, Carlos Silva e Sousa did not spare criticism “to the entrepreneurs who are not part of APAL”, but who benefit “from the work of others”. "It is not fair that some work and spend and others collect and earn as the effort of others", he stressed.

Ensuring that the end of the year in Albufeira will bring to the council «the best there is», the mayor made a point of highlighting the two concerts on the night of December 31st: Acting, at 22pm, «to attract the youngest», and then Xutos&Pontapés, at midnight (or earlier, after midnight on January 30st), after the fireworks, “for the less young”.

In addition, there will be Solrir Festival, from December 29th to January 2nd, Medieval Paderne, in that “wonderful” village in the interior of the county, from December 29th to January 1st, the Star Parade, on Avenida Sá Carneiro, in Oura, on the night of 31, and the fireworks from Praia dos Pescadores, marking the arrival of the new year of 2018.
