Portimão receives «highest concentration» of Porsche cars «ever»

The first edition of the “Iberian Porsche Meeting” takes place at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, in Portimão, on the 9th of July, where the biggest concentration of cars of that brand will take place on the track «ever».

Starting on the 8th of July in Cascais, and passing through Évora, the participants will arrive at the end of the 9th at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, with free entry for the public who will have access to the seating area.

This is a "unique opportunity to see 356 Porsche sports cars up close", according to the Portimão City Council.

As usual in the mythical Rally of Portugal of the 80's, the slalom on the finish line of the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, in a timed race intended for all participants enrolled in the Sport Plus Pack and that puts the machines and expertise of each participating team to the test.

Throughout the day, the “Challenge 25 years Porsche Club Portugal” will also take place, comprising a 30-minute free training session, a 15-minute timed training session and a test lasting seven laps.

To close the program of the “Iberian Porsche Meeting” event, the organization created a race open to all Porsche racing models.

This clash is aimed at pilots who own classics, cup cars from different generations, GT3 or even GT2 versions, with no age limits and restrictions.

The “Iberian Porsche Meeting” «characterized by bringing together, in the same space, all generations of the huge family of sporting symbols with the seal of the German dream factory, standing out for the quality of the range of models that will be present», of agreement with the municipality of Portimo.

The caravan includes, for example, the Porsche 918 Spyder, valued at more than one million euros, and considered to be one of the most effective hybrid supersports on the planet, the also rare Porsche 911 GT3 RS, synonymous with competition, and the symbolic Porsche 356, the first of the current lineage.

Mark Webber, world champion in the World Endurance Championship (WEC), in 2015, will be present «determined to share with customers his experience in motorsport».

The Australian will be behind the wheel of a Porsche 919 Hybrid LMP1 — the prototype that has since given three triumphs to that brand in the 24 Hours of Le Mans (2015, 2016, 2017).

In addition to the presence of the former Formula 1 driver, the Iberian Porsche Meeting will also feature the presence of August Achleitner, product director at Porsche and responsible for the development of the brand's sports cars, who will accompany the delegation throughout the weekend, taking over the position of speaker at the Saturday dinner, taking place in the VIP Lounge of the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve for all participants.

Iberian Porsche Meeting is an organization headed by Porsche Ibérica and promoted by Prime Promotion, «which the Municipality of Portimão has supported since the beginning, through the ATP - Portimão Tourism Association, as a luxury host of the 1st edition of this event, which the from 2018 onwards, it will be held annually and alternately in Portugal and Spain”, concludes the Portimão Chamber.
