The Festa da Ria Formosa, where you can taste “the best seafood”, takes place from July 27th to August 6th, in Largo de São Francisco, in Faro, with Quim Barreiros acting at the opening of the gastronomic event.

In total there will be 11 days, where you can also eat «local and regional specialties, made based on the recipes and traditions of our municipality», explains the Chamber of Faro.

The 24th edition of this event organized by Vivmar – Association of Nurseries and Shellfishers of Ria Formosa, entity to which the City Council of Faro joins, this year will have a group of national, regional and local artists.

This year, the Festival wants to be «the biggest ever after having had 2015 thousand visitors in 70 and in 2016 having reached 120 thousand».

For example, on August 4th there will be a concert by the duo “Baby Lores & Luís” (Gomes), mayor of Vila Real de Santo António.

According to the Chamber of Faro, the “Festa da Ria Formosa is today a regional reference and one of the main gastronomic events in the country. Contributing to this success are all those who chose Ria Formosa to develop their activities and the high quality and freshness of the products that our waters provide».

Between the 25th of July and the 7th of August there will be some traffic constraints due to the Festa da Ria Formosa. Access by car to Vila Adentro will be made via Arco da Vila, via Rua do Município, while the exit from Vila Adentro will be via Arco do Repouso, maintaining the current exit via Rua da Porta Nova.

As for Rua do Castelo, it will have two-way traffic and alternate circulation, in the section between Praça D. Afonso III and Largo do Castelo. Rua do Castelo will also be without exit and restricted to residents, suppliers and emergency vehicles.

In addition to these changes, it is necessary to stop traffic in the south and west of Largo de S. Francisco and divert public transport through Rua Dª Teresa Ramalho Ortigão.

Entrance is, as always, free, and the opening hours will be between 19:00 pm and 1:00 am.
