The Chamber of Faro (PSD) considers "outrageous" that the ceremony of signing the protocol for the installation of the maritime post on the island of Farol, which will include the presence of the Ministers of the Sea and Defence, to be signed in the Chamber of Olhão (PS), this island being the territory of the municipality of Faro.
In response to the invitation from the Minister of the Sea's office to attend the ceremony, the municipality of Faro responded that Rogério Bacalhau will not attend, "due to a previously assumed schedule commitment" and that he considers "regrettable that this invitation was made with only 24 hours in advance, in disregard of the most elementary principle of predictability to which public management must obey and, above all, in dissonance with institutional loyalty».
In the response sent to the Ministry, the Chamber of Faro he also expresses “his disillusionment that, in this case, there was no prior consultation or, for that matter, information on the dossiers under consideration which, it seems, will concern the territory and the life of the population of Faro – a reality that the Ministry of the Sea seems to be unaware of».
And the truth is that the Ministry of the Sea is not aware that the island of Farol is part of the council of Faro. The invitation sent to the press by the minister's office reads that «Ana Paula Vitorino will preside, together with the Minister of National Defense, José Azeredo Lopes, at the inauguration of the “Costa Segura” System in Portimão and the signing of the protocol for the installation of the maritime post on the island of Farol, in Olhão, tomorrow, the 26th of July».
This protocol will be signed today, 12:30 pm, between the Administration of the Ports of Sines and the General Directorate of the Maritime Authority. At the same ceremony, the protocol between Docapesca and the Municipality of Olhão will be ratified, for the rehabilitation of the supply ramps to the islands.
