The Municipal Assembly of Portimão approved in its last session a recommendation by the Left Block (BE) to place "protection along the entire riverside" of the city.
Blocist municipal deputies consider that this is "an area frequented by thousands of people, including children, throughout the year, and particularly during the summer months", so they recommend "to the executive of the Municipal Council of Portimão the placement of protection between the Arena pavilion, an area which they consider to have “poor lighting”, and the Clube Naval.
The BE proposal was approved by a majority with eight votes in favor (3 from BE, 3 from the «Servir Portimão» coalition and 2 from the PSD), 14 abstentions (9 from the PS, 1 from the Servir Portimão, 1 from the PSD and 3 from the CDU ) and two votes against (PS and PSD).
In the same session, two motions by the CDU were also approved, one demanding the construction of a regional public slaughterhouse in the Algarve and the other on works on the EN125.
