Rogério Bacalhau pointed to the conquest of an absolute majority in the Municipal Elections of 1 October, in the official presentation of his re-candidacy to the Chamber of Faro, which took place on Wednesday, June 14th.

The current mayor of Faro he launched the objective as a question, in his speech, challenging the approximately 1200 people who attended the School Pavilion D. Afonso III to imagine what he «could do with an absolute majority», after four years in which he did not had it and, he considered, managed to show work.

The mayor of Faro returns to the vote supported by a coalition that brings together the PSD, the CDS-PP, the MPT and the PPM and seeks not only re-election – a task that has proved to be impractical, in Faro, for almost two decades – but a victory for numbers that allow it to have a majority in the different municipal bodies, namely the City Council and the Municipal Assembly.

In the term that ends this year, the coalition that supports the executive of Rogério Bacalhau was in the minority in these two bodies.

In the Chamber, it had four councilors out of nine (PS also has four, CDU has one).

The Farense mayor is confident that the work he has developed over the past four years will be able to convince the residents of Faro to vote for the coalition he heads.

During the presentation of the candidacy, the work carried out and measures taken in the last four years were highlighted, from the outset to the reduction of debt and stabilization of accounts, which allowed the Chamber to exit from a Financial Rebalancing process that maintains municipal rates at the maximum levels since 2012 , but also physical works, such as the requalification of the road network.

The events launched during the current term, such as the Festival F and the Alameda Beer Fest, were other “trump cards” that the candidate for the Chamber of Faro placed on the table.
