Students from the 3rd to 5th grades of the EB1 schools in Silves and the EB 2,3 Dr. Garcia Domingues debated, on the 14th of June, themes such as bullying, gender equality and the refugee crisis. The initiative, entitled “Challenge Day – Challenge Day”, was part of the School Week celebrations.

According to Câmara de Silves, “the objective was to provide young students with the opportunity to exchange ideas, explore themes and, above all, promote inner change, leading them to consider their attitudes towards certain situations”.

The municipality explains that, «at different stations and using non-formal education techniques, each group had 45 minutes to answer questions such as: – Refugees… What if it were you? – Gender equality or inequality?! – Bullying… how to act?!»

The work was coordinated by CMS Youth sector technicians, in partnership with some young people from Silves Secondary School, namely Beatriz Batista, Miguel Correia, Pedro Pinto and Lúcia Correia who, according to Silves City Council, «facilitated/conducted the process , seeking greater proximity to the participants».
