The band Ala dos Namorados will be in Castro Marim on the 24th of June to help the Sotavento Algarvio council celebrate its municipal holiday. The Castro-Marinean Chamber will mark the anniversary with several initiatives, including the inauguration of the photography exhibition “Paisagens – Sal a Sul | Castro Marim”.
The celebrations begin on the 23rd of June, with the realization of the Grande Arraial de São João, in Praça 1º de Maio in the village. During this party, the Chamber will take the opportunity to present the prizes to the local associations participating in the XVIII Masts Contest, which took place this month.
On the same day, the inauguration of the exhibition of works by the Universidade do Tempo Livre (UTL) will take place at the local Market of Castro Marim, together with the exhibition “Between Memories and Retalhos”, until the 19th of August . UTL students will also star in the parade “Atlier Arte & Património”.
On the 24th of June, the municipal holiday of Castro Marim, in addition to the official ceremonies and the solemn session, where personalities linked to «the best salt in the world» will be honored, the inauguration of the aerial photography exhibition “Paisagens – Sal a Sul” is planned. at Casa do Sal. This work shows «a Castro Marim seen from above in a geometric tracery of salt marshes, meandering through the channels that connect us to the River Guadiana, on a canvas of various colors», according to the description of Filomena Sintra, councilor for Culture of the Chamber of Castro Marim.
The festival has its peak (and its end) at the Revelim de Santo António, where the concert by Ala dos Namorados will take place.
