The Municipality of Portimão wants to build a new playground in the parish of Mexilhoeira Grande and recover an existing one in the city. The idea is to invest 90 euros in this equipment and in the redevelopment of "some of the public spaces in Portimo, which have not been maintained over the last few years due to financial constraints", according to the municipality.

For now, the executive has approved the signing of technical and financial collaboration protocols with the Parish Councils of Mexilhoeira and Portimão for the construction of playgrounds, an idea that has yet to be submitted for approval by the Municipal and Parish Assemblies.

In the city of Portimão, it intends to refurbish the Quinta do Caneco children's and sports park, with the parish council being responsible for cleaning and infrastructure of the land, as well as for the electrification of the park, for laying synthetic pavement and fencing and for the acquisition of equipment for the playground”.

«The parish council of Portimão will also be responsible for ensuring its daily management, as well as its cleaning and running costs for water and electricity», according to the Chamber.

In Mexilhoeira Grande, a children's and leisure park will be built from scratch in a building belonging to the parish council, located at Areias, «this way meeting a real need of the parish's younger population».

«The duties of the Parish Council of Mexilhoeira Grande are the same as those of the Parish Council of Portimão: to ensure the maintenance and running costs of this equipment», concluded the City Council of Portimão.
