Students from schools in Lagoa spent a week in Lagoa… in the Azores

Between the 5th of May and the 6th of June, students from the 30th and 5th grades and teachers from the Rio Arade Schools Group, in Lagoa, participated in a study visit to another municipality in Lagoa, that of the Azores. The Algarve and Azorean municipalities share the same name and have been twinned since 2008, a partnership under which this visit took place.

The group from Lagoa was welcomed at the local Youth Hostel and enjoyed a program that “went through several visits to the Municipality of Lagoa, as well as to emblematic places on the island of São Miguel, namely the Gorreana tea factory, historic center of Ribeira Grande , Central Grocery, Porto Caneiros swimming pool complex, Expolab, Lagoa das Sete Cidades, Ponta Delgada city, Parque Atlântico and Portas do Mar, Cerâmica Vieira, Convento dos Franciscanos, Casa das Memórias, Municipal Library, Furnas and Terra Nostra garden» , according to the Council of Lagoa (of the Algarve).

Students from the Algarve also had the opportunity to interact with their Azorean colleagues, participating in various activities organized by the Lagoa Secondary School and the Água de Pau Integrated Basic School.

Next school year it will be the turn of Lagoa, Algarve to receive a group of students from Lagoa dos Açores, as part of the protocol between municipal executives.
