The City Council of São Brás de Alportel signed, last Thursday, May 25th, a protocol with Santa Casa da Misericórdia, to improve the «responses of social housing in the county».
This is considered, by the Municipality, "a priority area" and the protocol "intends to improve the provision of social housing in the municipality, respond to social emergencies and develop new intervention strategies, consolidating an already existing partnership, being Santa Casa da Misericórdia, member of the Local Council of Social Action and of the Municipal Housing Commission».
According to the Chamber, “the development of projects aimed at repopulation and population dynamization of sites in the mountainous area of the county is another of the fronts of this partnership strategy”.
On the day the protocol was signed, the first lending contract between the two entities was also signed, which provides for the Santa Casa da Misericórdia of São Brás de Alportel to provide the Municipality with a property for social housing purposes free of charge.
"The property will be the object of works so that it can constitute a new social housing unit", concluded the municipality.
