Fusos – Festival of Artistic Fusions takes over the village of Alte, in the interior of the municipality of Loulé, between 26 and 28 May. There will be three days filled with music, dance, theater, photography, exhibitions, workshops, fairs and cinema, all with free admission.

The organization seeks not only entertainment, in a proposal without any overlaps, but also invites you to get to know the village and all the festival's offerings at a leisurely pace. "The program always starts at 14:30 pm from Friday to Sunday and wants people to walk around the village and circulate throughout the day, on the nine stages, making the festival a tour of the village and the proposed artistic projects", he says, in a good way. of invitation, Carlos Norton, from Associação Fungo Azul, promoter of the event.

The festival bets on projects that result from a partnership between art and craft, which, being separate concepts and professions, have a direct relationship between them. «Often, the terms artist and artisan are confused and in fact each has a little of the other. In this case, we are going to make the two coexist, creating together some pieces and artistic performances, always in partnership between art and craft», adds Carlos Norton.

There are products and offers created on purpose for the Fusos festival, in the spirit of the union of the arts, with the concert in Orblua, on Saturday night, one of the examples where, on stage, in addition to the musicians, «there will be a round of a potter, a loom and a blacksmith's anvil, with the sounds of his work being captured and contributing to the spectacle».

The end result is not only organic music produced by everyone, but also the pieces that each artisan is producing.

This philosophy is spread throughout the festival, with the singing of Moçoilas receiving the contribution of sounds by mEEkAlnUt (Miguel Neto), the dancer Pedro Romeiras sharing the stage with fishermen while mending a net, or the traditional oral narration with a contribution of sound design. “Whenever there is a show, there is a mix of art and crafts”, adds Carlos Norton.

Several artists such as Mauro Amaral, Azinhaga, Filipe Valentim or Cal also join, and there is no lack of activities for children, the festival being suitable for all ages.

The first day of Fusos is dedicated to the local inhabitants, with the inauguration of a photographic exhibition, the result of a walk by the children of Alte, camera in hand, through the streets of their village, in a result characterized by the organization as «very professional».

There will also be the construction of a community sculpture, where each resident has the opportunity to place a piece, at random, in a result of overlapping objects that, it is hoped, represents the spirit of Fusos and the people of Alte.

The first night ends with the group Artesãos da Música from Alentejo, who build their own instruments, immediately imbued with the spirit of this festival.

Saturday is the most musical day, with concerts starting from 15:30 pm to 23:00 pm, ending the night with a World Music session by DJ António Pires.

Sunday will be the day most dedicated to children and families and for that reason it presents musical proposals, stories and various workshops, construction of instruments, prints and work with esparto.

During Fusos, there will also be a cinema cycle, with the screening of three documentaries about the Algarve culture – “António Aleixo, na terra I leave” (by Carlos Fraga), “I'm the one who's in charge here” (by Tiago Pereira) and “ Land that welcomes us” (by Carlos Norton).

Throughout the festival, there will be a flea market (old shops) and, through the village streets, on a tour of the stages, there will be a wanderer “de Alte”, which the public is invited to join and play on his many instruments , producing their own music. All ways to make this a festival where «people can actively participate and get to know all the corners of Alte», says the organization.

The Festival closes with the painting of the community sculpture, enabling a personal contribution in a collective register.

Fusos is free to enter and is an organization of the Fungo Azul Association, which reflects its philosophy of connection to the arts of music and local traditions, being financed by the 365 Algarve Program and also with the support of the Municipality of Loulé, from Loulé Municipal Museum and Alte Parish Council.
