Coimbra's album of fados and guitars “Saudade”, by the group In Versus, will be presented on Sunday, May 7th, at 18 pm, at the Forum Algarve's FNAC, in Faro.
The release of this work marks the musical journey of almost two decades of the Algarve In Versus – Coimbra Fados and Guitarradas Group, presenting studio records that «illustrate the strong connection to the Coimbra song and the guitars existing in the Algarve», according to the group .
The name of the work “translates the nostalgia linked to life and the various moments that pass and leave us with unforgettable feelings”, added In Versus.
The members of the group also intend to «invoke the absence of the dear colleague Miguel Drago, who can no longer play music», but which will continue to «positively influence» the way they understand the tradition linked to Coimbra's fado and guitar. In his memory, an unpublished theme of his authorship was recorded, which opens the album.
The record includes recordings of all the elements that passed through the group, although some do not currently reside in the Algarve for professional reasons.
The In Versus group was created in 1999, as a result of the academic experience provided by «years of interaction within the Versus Tuna – Academic Tuna of the University of Algarve». In Versus, inspired by the name of Tuna, is thus a project born between students and former students of UAlg that has counted, throughout its history, with alumni of the University of Coimbra, University of Porto.
Recognized as «a reference in this musical style in the south of Coimbra», the group has been regularly present at the Monumentais Serenatas Académicas, at Largo da Sé de Faro, where he will return today, May 4th, at 23:59, to start the 32nd edition of the UAlg Academic Week.
