The Alentejo red wine Casa Sabicos Reserva 2013, from Casa Agrícola Santana Ramalho, received the medal of excellence by the Confraria Bacchus de Albufeira, within the scope of the 5th National Wine competition, held on May 5th, at the 9th Great Wine Show of Portugal, taking place in Albufeira.

This is even the highest award in this contest. In the red category, the gold medal went to the Touriga Nacional 2015, from Maroteira Vinhos, while in the whites the big winner was Encostas de Enxoé Colheita Selectada 2015, from Vinhos Margaça. Both award-winning wines are from the Alentejo wine region.

Carlos Oliveira, Chancellor of the Confraria do Bacchus de Albufeira, Carlos Silva e Sousa, Mayor of Albufeira, José Carlos Martins Rolo, Councilor of the same Chamber, Fernando Severino, Regional Director of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Algarve, and Carlos Gracias, President of Algarve Wine Commission, were present at the opening ceremony of this event, which took place on May 5th.

The event has the participation of about a hundred producers from the most varied national wine regions, from Trás-os-Montes to the Algarve, and is expected to attract more than ten thousand visitors, until today, the 8th of May, when it ends .

With a full house when it comes to exhibitors, the event has a tasting glass for sale for 3,5 euros.

Despite being dedicated to wine, the show also promotes other regional products, such as olive oil, and some delicacies made by great chefs algarvians, in show cookings.

Thus, there will be dishes that manage to combine good wine with the best of national cuisine, in a tribute to the Mediterranean diet. On opening day, the cocktails with wine were in charge of the Barmen Association of the Algarve. The fire bottle opening was delivered to the sommelier and confrere master Paulo Monteiro.
