Saturday morning, May 13th, will be very active, in Lagoa dos Salgados and surroundings. The association Almargem will promote activities in Lagoa dos Salgados, in the salt marshes of Pêra and Praia Grande, which aim to make known the natural values of this area of the Algarve, in border between Silves and Albufeira.

The program of the initiative «Morning Active at Lagoa dos Salgados» includes an easy six-kilometer walk (9:30 am), a bird watching outing (9:30 am/11:00 am), another one to observe the local flora (9:30 am/11:00 am) and an action to collect garbage and start up weepers. At 12:30, to finish, there is a picnic, which anyone who wants to can share, as well as « socializing, beach and games ».

Almargem has not forgotten that this is «a sublime place in terms of natural heritage, which continues to be under threat of total destruction» and «on the verge of being razed by another sad real estate business», so it will also promote the debate on the future of the zone.

The price for participating in this activity is 5 euros and includes insurance, guidance and preparation expenses. Children under 12 do not pay, which does not prevent them from having to register in advance, by calling 925481986 or 28412959 or by email [email protected] (until 17:00 on 12 May) .

Almargem recommends that participants bring “comfortable shoes, binoculars, bird and flora guide, lunch, detachable bench and bathing suit”.
