360º panoramic images of the Fortress of Sagres and the Castle of Aljezur will now be available on Google's online maps, using the function Street View. The two monuments in the Algarve were chosen to be part of the project “Google StreetView Special Collects”, in which the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve participates.
The 360º images of these two monuments will be available as of tomorrow, April 25, on the platforms, Google Maps and Google Earth, «which will enrich the users' experience and offer an unprecedented view of the captured location at a level global», revealed the DR of Culture of the Algarve.
This project “allows you to complete the map of Portugal that already exists in the Google Maps service, with 360º panoramic images of the places of greatest cultural and tourist interest in the country”. The entity responsible for the cultural sector in the Algarve added that the main objective of the “Google StreetView Special Collects” is “the promotion of the National Heritage of the selected countries”.
