A bale of about 35 kilos of hashish, which washed ashore on Culatra Island this Saturday, was found in the sand by workers from Fagar, the municipal company of Faro for cleaning and trash removal.

The workers, who found the burden among the housing nuclei of the Faroand Culatra, reported the incident to the Maritime Police of the Local Command of Olhão around 9:45 am yesterday.

Police officers immediately went to the scene to pick up the burden. The drug was handed over to the Judiciary Police, which will conduct the investigation.

The National Maritime Authority warns the population so that "when detecting objects of this type in the Maritime Public Domain, do not approach them and immediately alert the local Maritime Police."

"Failure to comply with these procedures may constitute a crime punishable by law", informs AMN.
