The Social Charter of the Municipality of Lagoa, whose objective is to be "the basis of an effective and efficient response to the growing needs of the elderly, families and the population with disabilities", was approved by a majority, with the abstention of the two CDU deputies, in the last April 12th, at the session of the Municipal Assembly.
According to the Câmara de Lagoa, the «network of social facilities in the municipality, in the field of childhood and youth, is manifestly small» and, «in the domain of the elderly, there are many users on the waiting list for the home». To this is added "an absence of supply of equipment aimed at the population with mental illnesses".
Having said that, "one of the bets should be to improve the coverage of existing responses and create new social responses, such as a home for children and youth to welcome children and young people in danger, based on the application of a measure of promotion and protection».
The construction of "a residential home for young people and adults with disabilities who are temporarily or permanently prevented from living in their family environment" and "a residential home for young people and adults with mental health problems, who are if they are temporarily or permanently prevented from residing in their family environment'.
And future bets should also go through a 'social reintegration apartment, to accommodate, temporarily, people with addictive behavior, and who, after leaving treatment units, prisons, tutelary centers or others, face reintegration problems social, family, school or professional, and an elderly home/senior residence with capacity for 40 users, designed to permanently house elderly people or those at risk of loss of independence or autonomy», says the Câmara de Lagoa.
Finally, it is also said by the municipality that there is the possibility of building a «nursery with capacity for around 35 children, from 3 months to 3 years old».
