The extra virgin olive oil “Monterosa”, from Moncarapacho, won, this Thursday, the 27th of April, two gold medals in the New York International Olive Oil Competition, the most prestigious competition today: one with the “Monovarietal Monterosa Picual” and the other the “Monterosa Selection”.
And the good news doesn't stop there: at the beginning of the week the Algarve brand won, in the international competition olive japan, a gold medal with the “Monovarietal Monterosa Picual” and two silver medals with the “Monovarietal Monterosa Maçanilha” and the “Monterosa Selection”.
To be awarded in the New York International Olive Competition the Algarve oil had to surpass another 910 oils, from 26 countries, while in the olive japan 620 oils from 25 countries participated.
Also this week, the olive oil “Monterosa Maçanilha” was selected, along with four other national oils, to represent the best extra virgin olive oil in Portugal, at the International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Salon taking place at the XVIII edition of Expoliva in Jaén – Spain, in what is one of the most important fairs in the world in the olive growing sector.
“Azeite Monterosa” is sold in a black screen-printed bottle of 500 and 250 milliliters, as well as in a Kit of tasting with five bottles of 20 milliliters.
To the already usual range of Maçanilha, Cobrançosa, Verdeal and Picual monovarietals, there is also a Selection which is produced with a mixture of varieties selected by the Monterosa team's internal panel of tasters.
In this version Selection there is a predominance of the Frantoio variety, which is originally a famous Italian variety that has been spreading throughout the olive-growing world.
