The Academic Association of the University of Algarve made a donation of food to four Social Solidarity institutions in the city of Faro. Donations were collected during the period of sale of the weekly ticket for the 32nd Academic Week, in which students were invited to deliver food items when purchasing a ticket.
The associations that received the donations were the Association for the Protection of Girls and the Family (AIPAR), the Support Center for the Homeless (CASA), the Chapel of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church (Missionaries of Charity – Mother Teresa of Calcutta) and the REFOOD Association.
According to Associação Académica, «this action was only possible thanks to the solidarity shown by the more than 500 students from the University of Algarve who purchased their weekly ticket for the 32nd edition of the Algarve Academic Week».
In a statement, AAUAlg said that it had also joined the “Papel por Alimentos” campaign, with the delivery of 320 kilos of paper to the Food Bank Against Hunger.
