The analysis session of the “Challenges and opportunities for the cultural and creative sector in the Algarve”, organized by the University of Algarve (UAlg), takes place this Wednesday, March 22, at Club Farense.

This initiative aims to “bring together a group of 20 participants, identified and organized, considering the Quadruple Helix Model (Governance, Education, Industry and Citizens), to carry out a SWOT analysis”, says UAlg.

This will identify the weaknesses, strengths, opportunities and threats (as befits a SWOT analysis) of the state of the Cultural and Creative Industries (ICC) in the Algarve.

This is because one of the goals is to activate the project's regional working group ChIMERA – Innovative cultural and creative clusters in the MED area, financed by the INTERREG MED Programme, of which the University of Algarve is a part.

Thus, it is expected that this group will participate in various future activities, to be carried out at the regional level within the scope of the project.

ChIMERA “has as its main objective to improve the innovation capacities of the Cultural and Creative Industries and of public and private actors through cooperation between companies, research centers, public entities and civil society”.

The partnership is constituted by Autonomous Region Friuli Venezia Giulia – lead partner (Italy), Basilicata Region (Italy), Creative Apulia Cluster Association (Italy), Technology Park Ljubljana Ltd (Slovenia), Local Company of Initiatives and Activities of Malaga SA (Spain), Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Terrassa (Spain) and Region of Sterea Ellada (Greece).

These are joined Nice Côte d'Azur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (France), University Nice Sophia Antipolis (France), Ministry for Innovation and Public Administration (Albania) and Ministry of Economic Development – Directorate General for Industrial Policy, Competitiveness and SME (Italy).

ChIMERA also has the participation of the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve, as an associated partner.
