The «treasures of the Algarve's heritage» will be at the center of attention at the new Meeting «São Brás de Alportel: Traditions and Memories», which will take place at the Costume Museum of this village in the interior of the Algarve on March 11, from 9:30 am.
The second edition of the event will bring together personalities from different areas, who will talk about themes related to heritage, oral tradition and the Mediterranean diet and recall the history of the municipality.
The meeting begins with a lecture on the «Musical Tradition of the Barrocal of the Algarve», by professor at the University of Algarve Hélder Faustino Raimundo.
This is followed by an intervention by Rui Soares, president of the International Association of Paremiology, dedicated to the study of proverbs. The history of the municipality of São Brás de Alportel, namely the Pousada de São Brás, will be recalled at this meeting, by Cristina Fé Santos, from the University of Évora, and by the architect Vítor Ribeiro, co-authors of a book that evokes the 40 years of history of one of the oldest Portuguese inns.
In the final stretch of the event, José d' Encarnação will unveil curiosities about the Canteiros de São Brás, «a heritage to preserve and full of historical and heritage value», and Otília Eusébio, president of the Board of the Associação das Terras e das Gentes da Dieta Mediterranean, will reveal why «Kitchen is a Pharmacy».
In addition to the interventions, various cultural moments are planned, which will take place throughout the day.
The meeting «São Brás de Alportel: Traditions and Memories» is promoted by Rancho Típico Sambrasense, in partnership with the City Council of São Brás de Alportel, the Parish Council of São Brás de Alportel and the Museu do Traje. Admission is free.
