Three people, aged between 29 and 65, were accused by the Public Ministry of the DIAP of Faro for the commission of 14 crimes of aggravated theft. The defendants are suspected of having stolen the interior of vehicles between March 2015 and November 2016, «especially in Almancil and Albufeira».

According to the indictment, "the defendants systematically monitored bank branches" with the aim of detecting customers who raised significant amounts. Then, adds the Public Ministry, "they would discreetly follow the victims to their vehicles and, after checking where they kept the amounts raised, they would wait for them to leave and break into the vehicles to withdraw the money and other valuables."

In addition to the crime of aggravated theft, the defendants were also charged with crimes of document forgery and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Two of the accused are in preventive detention and the third is prohibited from making contacts and from leaving his area of ​​residence.

The investigation was carried out by the criminal investigation nucleus of the territorial command of Faro of the Republican National Guard.
