Algarve companies and tour agents participate, tomorrow and after, on the 21st and 22nd of March, in a series of workshops which will take place in Paris and Lyon, where they will have the opportunity to contact directly with around 160 French travel agents invited.

These sessions of networking are organized by the Associação Turismo do Algarve (ATA), the agency responsible for the external promotion of this region as a tourist destination.

They will be attended by 20 of its members, mainly hotels and operators in the sector, as well as representatives of some of the airlines with direct connections from France to Faro – Transavia and Aigle Azur – and the Portuguese company TAP.

With this initiative, ATA intends to «boost greater knowledge and greater cooperation between agents in the region and important agents in the French tourism market, a market considered to be strategic for the Algarve».

In 2016, the French market had a growth of 41% in the number of overnight stays in the region compared to the previous year, which corresponded to the registration of about 900 thousand overnight stays. In this context, France is now ranked sixth in the list of markets with the most nights spent in traditional hotels in the Algarve.

All participants in these workshops they will be able to provide information and present their activities to the French agents present.

«With this action, ATA's objective is to create the right conditions for the establishment of contacts and possible partnerships and commercial relations that result in the increase of the business of the agents involved and, consequently, translate into added value for the Algarve's tourism », explains Dora Coelho, executive director of ATA.
