The space where the Sasha Summer Disco was located, in Praia da Rocha, Portimão, was awarded 62 euros, plus VAT, and 3 euros in rent per month, at a Public Auction held on March 14th.
The new owners of this commercial space, which, despite having been used until now for nightlife, is classified as a catering establishment, now have three months to «recover the space and open doors», in addition to being subject to the obligation « the restaurant is open to the public at least 9 months a year”, according to the Portimão Chamber.
«The winner got the right to explore the restaurant and the surrounding area of sand, more specifically the right to occupy and operate a beach restaurant, with an area of 250 square meters and which will have to operate for at least 9 months a year , as well as an area of 3400 m2 of sand, which can be used between the 1st of July and the 31st of August to carry out entertainment events», described the municipality.
This was the first time that the award of the right to occupy and operate the restaurant and part of UB12 in Praia da Rocha was made by tender, instead of by direct award.
«Through this public procedure, open to all interested parties, the Chamber intended to lease a space that in recent years has served mainly for night entertainment parties in the summer period, such as Sasha Beach, Meo Spot or Portimão Summer Sessions» , framed the municipality of Portimo.
At Public Hasta, four bidders presented proposals, having been chosen “the one with the highest monetary value”.
The new concessionaire for the space «has now the responsibility to bear all the costs of rehabilitation and conservation works».
