Fresh cheeses with honey and olives to whet your appetite, lamb, wild boar, pork and chicken dishes (washed down with Algarve wines), orange, almond and egg desserts, with a digestive of arbutus and fig brandy to finish off beautifully.

This is the proposal of the Serrana Gastronomy Festival, which takes place from March 31 to April 23, in eight restaurants in Cachopo, Santa Catarina da Fonte do Bispo, Santo Estêvão and Tavira.

The participating establishments are “Retiro dos Caçadores (Cachopo)”, “O Constantino”, “Taberna Barriga”, “O Convívio”, “O Monte Velho”, “Herdade da Corte”, “Quinta do Marco” (Santa Catarina da Fonte do Bispo) and “Monte Baleeira” (Tavira).

Connoisseurs of traditional cuisine, local and seasonal products, as well as the Mediterranean lifestyle, who went to eat at one of these restaurants are eligible to win, by drawing lots, a stay in tourist accommodation. Namely: “Herdade da Corte”, “Rural Hotel Quinta do Marco” (Santa Catarina da Fonte do Bispo parish) and “Pensão Agrícola” (Valongo – Conceição and Cabanas parish).

The winners will also «enjoy a tourist entertainment activity», says Câmara de Tavira.
